Meet the changemakers supported by the David D. Dodge Foundation—from Human Rights Watch to Razia’s Ray of Hope—leading the fight for global justice.
The David D. Dodge Foundation is proud to stand alongside courageous organizations driving change around the world. Our Changemakers are on the front lines of human rights—fighting injustice, defending freedom of the press, expanding access to education, ensuring clean water, and working tirelessly to abolish the death penalty.
From leaders like Human Rights Watch and the Southern Poverty Law Center, to grassroots efforts such as Razia’s Ray of Hope Foundation and Project Sheluka, each partner reflects the Foundation’s vision of a world where dignity and equality are protected. Together, these Changemakers embody hope, resilience, and the power of collective action to advance human rights for all.
We align with organizations whose missions reflect our vision of justice, dignity, and equality. We focus on initiatives that empower individuals and create sustainable, long-term change.
Our purpose is to ensure that human rights are protected and advanced globally by supporting nonprofit organizations with a proven record of meaningful impact.
We track the progress of grantee organizations, highlight changemaker stories, and look for tangible improvements in the lives of those served—such as access to justice, education, or basic human needs.

Founder & President, Razia's Ray of Hope foundation. Over the past two decades, Razia educated thousands of Afghan girls and young women in the Zabuli Education Center located in Deh'Subz, a rural community in Afghanistan.
With deep sorrow and profound gratitude, we share the news of the passing of our beloved founder, Razia Jan.
Razia was a visionary, a humanitarian, and a fierce advocate for girls1 education in Afghanistan. Her tireless work changed countless lives, building bridges of compassion and hope across continents through her steadfast commitment to educating Afghan girls.
Through Razia’s Ray of Hope, she created a safe, nurturing school for Afghan girls to learn, dream, and lead – and inspired a global community to believe in the power of education to transform the world.
Razia’s passing is an immense loss, but her legacy is enduring. She devoted her life to building something larger than herself: an organization rooted in local leadership, sustainable support, and long-term vision. Thanks to her foresight, Razia’s Ray of Hope remains strong, stable, and secure, guided by the values she lived every day.
Razia taught us to lead with courage and compassion. Today, we carry that lesson forward – with full hearts and renewed purpose.
